I left this soothing Riad to blend into the lively crowd of the square. Everything there is turbulent, agitated, fragrant. From skin sellers to wood and metal artisans, shouts and songs rise as night shows its crescent moon. In the distance, it is the muezzin's call that will greet the sunset.

The Orient and its contrasts take place. The thick wool rugs and those woven with precious silks, the spices as colorful as they are fragrant, these children jostling with laughter, the scent of mint tea: I am at the gates of the desert. This door, which I imagine to be made of wood, is majestic.

It separates civilization from the infinite expanse of this sea of sand where the resilience of plants commands admiration. A bouquet of flowers will honor the nobility of the wood. In the base, notes of Musk, Patchouli, and Sandalwood. Elegantly, rose, cedar, and amber will invite themselves as heart notes.

As top notes, it's an olfactory surprise with bergamot notes jostled by saffron, whose pistils are harvested only at dawn, when the morning dew envelops them. Finally, as unexpected as it is subtle, violet with its tiny petals. Oud Souk has for Maison Maison the mystery of Princes.

• Do not cut the wicks neither at first use nor thereafter.
